MISSIONARIES ON THE MOVE
The Second Ordinary Assembly of the Claretian missionaries in Cameroon just began this morning in Yaoundé. We are to be accompanied by Fr. Manuel Tamargo and Br. Carlos Vergas. This Assembly will run from the 23rd to the 27th of May. Today, which is the first day, has been set aside as a day of recollection, which will help usher the participants into the Assembly proper.
Mgr. Faustin Ambassa, CICM, the Bishop of Batouri, Cameroon, is currently preaching the recollection. As his starting point, the Bishop is insisting on the Declaration of the 25th General Chapter “Missionarii Sumus.” This document as he commented speaks clearly our Identity as missionaries.
Mission is a principle in everything we do, the Bishop exhorted, and we must make it clear that we are missionaries. This insistence on mission meets up with the theme chosen for our Assembly, “Missionaries on the Move.”
