Avec son amie Basilisse, elles sont des martyres romaines qui furent condamnées à mort pour avoir enseveli, selon la tradition, les saints apôtres Pierre et Paul. Elles connurent les supplices habituels et cruels de la part de l’empereur Néron.

Dieu qui donnes sans cesse ta grâce pour augmenter le nombre de tes enfants, veille sur ceux que tu viens d’agréger à ton peuple; ils ont pris naissance dans le baptême : qu’ils soient revêtus de l’immortalité du Christ, pour se présenter à la table de ses noces. Lui qui.
1ère lecture : Act 4, 13-21
En ces jours-là, les chefs du peuple, les Anciens et les scribes constataient l’assurance de Pierre et de Jean et, se rendant compte que c’était des hommes sans culture et de simples particuliers, ils étaient surpris ; d’autre part, ils reconnaissaient en eux ceux qui étaient avec Jésus. Mais comme ils voyaient, debout avec eux, l’homme qui avait été guéri, ils ne trouvaient rien à redire. Après leur avoir ordonné de quitter la salle du Conseil suprême, ils se mirent à discuter entre eux. Ils disaient : « Qu’allons-nous faire de ces gens-là ? Il est notoire, en effet, qu’ils ont opéré un miracle; cela fut manifeste pour tous les habitants de Jérusalem, et nous ne pouvons pas le nier. Mais pour en limiter la diffusion dans le peuple, nous allons les menacer afin qu’ils ne parlent plus à personne en ce nom-là. » Ayant rappelé Pierre et Jean, ils leur interdirent formellement de parler ou d’enseigner au nom de Jésus. Ceux-ci leur répliquèrent : « Est-il juste devant Dieu de vous écouter, plutôt que d’écouter Dieu N? À vous de juger. Quant à nous, il nous est impossible de nous taire sur ce que nous avons vu et entendu. » Après de nouvelles menaces, ils les relâchèrent, faute d’avoir trouvé le moyen de les punir : c’était à cause du peuple, car tout le monde rendait gloire à Dieu pour ce qui était arrivé.

Évangile : Marc 16, 9-15
Ressuscité le matin, le premier jour de la semaine, Jésus apparut d’abord à Marie Madeleine, de laquelle il avait expulsé sept démons. Celle-ci partit annoncer la nouvelle à ceux qui, ayant vécu avec lui, s’affligeaient et pleuraient. Quand ils entendirent que Jésus était vivant et qu’elle l’avait vu, ils refusèrent de croire. Après cela, il se manifesta sous un autre aspect à deux d’entre eux qui étaient en chemin pour aller à la campagne. Ceux-ci revinrent l’annoncer aux autres, qui ne les crurent pas non plus. Enfin, il se manifesta aux Onze eux-mêmes pendant qu’ils étaient à table : il leur reprocha leur manque de foi et la dureté de leurs cœurs parce qu’ils n’avaient pas cru ceux qui l’avaient contemplé ressuscité. Puis il leur dit : « Allez dans le monde entier. Proclamez l’Évangile : à toute la création. »

Donne-nous, Seigneur, de te rendre grâce toujours par ces mystères de Pâques ; ils continuent en nous ton œuvre de rédemption, qu’ils nous soient une source intarissable de joie. Par Jésus.

Méditation
« Puis il leur dit : « Allez dans le monde entier. Proclamez l’Évangile : à toute la création. » Allez ! Proclamez ! Cette double injonction du Christ ressuscité à ses disciples fonde l’être de l’Eglise comme substantiellement missionnaire. De Marie-Madeleine aux disciples d’Emmaüs en passant par Simon-Pierre, Jean et tous les disciples, le mystère de la sortie du tombeau du Christ devient pour tous le paradigme de toute sortie : sortie de toute peur pour accueillir la paix du Christ, sortie de l’angoisse pour communiquer la Bonne Nouvelle et enfin sortie parce qu’envoyés par le ressuscité jusqu’aux confins de la terre comme messager de sa résurrection. En effet, c’est pour toute la création que le Christ est mort et sorti vivant du tombeau.

First reading: Acts 4:13-21
The rulers, elders and scribes were astonished at the assurance shown by Peter and John, considering they were uneducated laymen; and they recognised them as associates of Jesus; but when they saw the man who had been cured standing by their side, they could find no answer. So they ordered them to stand outside while the Sanhedrin had a private discussion. “What are we going to do with these men?” they asked. “It is obvious to everybody in Jerusalem that a miracle has been worked through them in public, and we cannot deny it. But to stop the whole thing spreading any further among the people, let us caution them never to speak to anyone in this name again.” So they called them in and gave them a warning on no account to make statements or to teach in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John retorted, “You must judge whether in God’s eyes it is right to listen to you and not to God. We cannot promise to stop proclaiming what we have seen and heard.” The court repeated the warnings and then released them; they could not think of any way to punish them, since all the people were giving glory to God for what had happened.

Having risen in the morning on the first day of the week, Jesus appeared first to Mary of Magdala from whom he had cast out seven devils. She then went to those who had been his companions, and who were mourning and in tears, and told them. But they did not believe her when they heard her say that he was alive and that she had seen him. After this, he showed himself under another form to two of them as they were on their way into the country. These went back and told the others, who did not believe them either. Lastly, he showed himself to the Eleven themselves while they were at table. He reproached them for their incredulity and obstinacy, because they had refused to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. And he said to them, “Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation.”

Meditation
“Then he said to them, ‘Go into the world. Proclaim the gospel: to all creation.’” Go! Proclaim it! This double injunction of the risen Christ to his disciples gives to the Church its characteristic as being substantially missionary. From Mary Magdalene to the disciples on the road to Emmaus, through Simon Peter, John and all the disciples, the mystery of Christ’s exit from the tomb becomes for all of them the paradigm of all exits: exits from all fear to welcome the peace of Christ, exits from anguish to communicate the Good News and finally exits because they are sent by the risen one to the ends of the earth as messengers of his resurrection. Indeed, it is for the whole of creation that Christ died and came out of the tomb alive.

1ère lecture : Act 4, 1-12
En ces jours-là, après la guérison de l’infirme, comme Pierre et Jean parlaient encore au peuple, les prêtres survinrent, avec le commandant du Temple et les sadducéens ; ils étaient excédés de les voir enseigner le peuple et annoncer, en la personne de Jésus, la résurrection d’entre les morts. Ils les firent arrêter et placer sous bonne garde jusqu’au lendemain, puisque c’était déjà le soir. Or, beaucoup de ceux qui avaient entendu la Parole devinrent croyants ; à ne compter que les hommes, il y en avait environ cinq mille. Le lendemain se réunirent à Jérusalem les chefs du peuple, les anciens et les scribes. Il y avait là Hanne le grand prêtre, Caïphe, Jean, Alexandre, et tous ceux qui appartenaient aux familles de grands prêtres. Ils firent amener Pierre et Jean au milieu d’eux et les questionnèrent: «Par quelle puissance, par le nom de qui, avez-vous fait cette guérison? » Alors Pierre, rempli de l’Esprit Saint, leur déclara: «Chefs du peuple et anciens, nous sommes interrogés aujourd’hui pour avoir fait du bien à un infirme, et l’on nous demande comment cet homme a été sauvé. Sachez-le donc, vous tous, ainsi que tout le peuple d’Israël : c’est par le nom de Jésus le Nazaréen, lui que vous avez crucifié mais que Dieu a ressuscité d’entre les morts, c’est par lui que ces hommes trouvent là, devant vous, bien portant. Ce Jésus est la pierre méprisée de vous, les bâtisseurs, mais devenue la pierre d’angle. En nul autre que lui, il n’y a de salut, car, sous le ciel, aucun autre nom n’est donné aux hommes, qui puisse nous sauver. »

Évangile : Jean 21, 1-14
En ce temps-là, Jésus se manifesta encore aux disciples sur le bord de la mer de Tibériade, et voici comment. Il y avait là, ensemble, Simon-Pierre, avec Thomas, appelé Didyme (c’est-à-dire Jumeau), Nathanaël, de Cana de Galilée, les fils de Zébédée, et deux autres de ses disciples. Simon-Pierre leur dit : « Je m’en vais à la pêche. » Ils lui répondent: « Nous aussi, nous allons avec toi. » Ils partirent et montèrent dans la barque ; or, cette nuit-là, ils ne prirent rien. Au lever du jour, Jésus se tenait sur le rivage, mais les disciples ne savaient pas que c’était lui. Jésus leur dit : « Les enfants, auriez-vous quelque chose à manger ? » Ils lui répondirent : « Non. » Il leur dit : « Jetez le filet à droite de la barque, et vous trouverez. » Ils jetèrent donc le filet, et cette fois ils n’arrivaient pas à le tirer, tellement il y avait de poissons. Alors, le disciple que Jésus aimait dit à Pierre: « C’est le Seigneur!» Quand Simon-Pierre entendit que c’était le Seigneur, il passa un vêtement, car il n’avait rien sur lui, et il se jeta à l’eau. Les autres disciples arrivèrent en barque, traînant le filet plein de poissons; la terre n’était qu’à une centaine de mètres. Une fois descendus à terre, ils aperçoivent, disposé là, un feu de braise avec du poisson posé dessus, et du pain. Jésus leur dit : « Apportez donc de ces poissons que vous venez de prendre. » Simon-Pierre remonta et tira jusqu’à terre le filet plein de gros poissons : il y en avait cent cinquante-trois. Et, malgré cette quantité, le filet ne s’était pas déchiré. Jésus leur dit alors : « Venez manger. » Aucun des disciples n’osait lui demander: « Qui es-tu ? » Ils savaient que c’était le Seigneur. Jésus s’approche; il prend le pain et le leur donne ; et de même pour le poisson. C’était la troisième fois que Jésus ressuscité d’entre les morts se manifestait à ses disciples.
Prière sur les offrandes
Accomplis en nous, Seigneur très bon, l’échange que nous attendons de cette offrande pascale ; transfigure en amour du ciel l’amour que nous portons au monde. Par Jésus.

Ne cesse pas de protéger avec amour, Seigneur, ceux que tu as sauvés : la passion de ton Fils les a rachetés, qu’ils mettent leur joie dans sa résurrection. Lui qui règne.
Méditation
« Alors, le disciple que Jésus aimait dit à Pierre : ‘‘C’est le Seigneur !’’ ». Une troisième fois après sa résurrection, Jésus apparaît à ses disciples, les assurant de la proximité de sa présence. Comme les disciples d’Emmaüs, Simon-Pierre et ses condisciples retournent à leurs activités d’antan. Après tout, le maître n’est plus là ; il faut bien s’occuper. Mais c’est sans compter avec l’avertissement du Maître : « Quiconque met la main à la charrue, et regarde en arrière, n›est pas propre au royaume de Dieu. » (Lc 9,62). « Cette nuit-là, ils ne prirent rien ». Jésus vient vers eux sous le signe de la fécondité liée à sa personne et de l’eucharistie, sacrement de sa présence. Après la profusion de la pêche, il dresse la table pour eux : « Venez manger ». C’est en ayant les yeux fixés sur le Christ qui se donne à nous que toutes nos activités deviennent fécondes, portant du fruit en abondance. Seigneur donne-nous, comme le disciple bien-aimé, de te reconnaître sur nos rives et dans les faits courants de nos vies.

Saint Lydwine
St. Lydwine is the patroness of sickness. She was born in Holland. She experienced mystical gifts, including supernatural visions of heaven, hell, purgatory, apparitions of Christ, and the stigmata. She was canonized Pope Leo XIII in 1890.

Almighty ever-living God, who gave us the Paschal Mystery in the covenant you established for reconciling the human race, so dispose our minds, we pray, that what we celebrate by professing the faith, we may express in deeds. First reading: Acts 4:1-12
While Peter and John were talking to the people the priests came up to them, accompanied by the captain of the Temple and the Sadducees. They were extremely annoyed at their teaching the people the doctrine of the resurrection from the dead by proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus. They arrested them, but as it was already late, they held them till the next day. But many of those who had listened to their message became believers, the total number of whom had now risen to something like five thousand. The next day the rulers, elders and Scribes had a meeting in Jerusalem with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, Jonathan, Alexander and all the members of the high-priestly families. They made the prisoners stand in the middle and began to interrogate them, “By what power, and by whose name have you men done this?” Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, addressed them, “Rulers of the people, and elders! If you are questioning us today about an act of kindness to a cripple, and asking us how he was healed, then I am glad to tell you all, and would indeed be glad to tell the whole people of Israel, that it was by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the one you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by this name and by no other that this man is able to stand up perfectly healthy, here in your presence, today. This is the stone rejected by you the builders, but which has proved to be the keystone. For of all the names in the world given to men, this is the only one by which we can be saved.”

Jesus showed himself again to the disciples. It was by the Sea of Tiberias, and it happened like this: Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee and two more of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.” They replied, “We’ll come with you.” They went out and got into the boat but caught nothing that night. It was light by now and there stood Jesus on the shore, though the disciples did not realise that it was Jesus. Jesus called out, “Have you caught anything, friends?” And when they answered, “No”, he said, “Throw the net out to starboard and you’ll find something.” So they dropped the net, and there were so many fish that they could not haul it in. The disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.” At these words “It is the Lord”, Simon Peter, who had practically nothing on, wrapped his cloak round him and jumped into the water. The other disciples came on in the boat, towing the net and the fish; they were only about a hundred yards from land. As soon as they came ashore they saw that there was some bread there, and a charcoal fire with fish cooking on it. Jesus said, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.” Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore, full of big fish, one hundred and fifty-three of them; and in spite of there being so many the net was not broken. Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples was bold enough to ask, “Who are you?” They knew quite well it was the Lord. Jesus then stepped forward, took the bread and gave it to them, and the same with the fish. This was the third time that Jesus showed himself to the disciples after rising from the dead.

Perfect within us, O Lord, we pray, the solemn exchange brought about by these paschal offerings, that we may be drawn from earthly desires to a longing for the things of heaven. Through Christ our Lord.

Prayer after Communion
Keep safe, O Lord, we pray, those whom you have saved by your kindness that, redeemed by the Passion of your Son, they may rejoice in his Resurrection. Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Meditation
“Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘It is the Lord!’” A third time after his resurrection, Jesus appears to his disciples, assuring them of the closeness of his presence. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, Simon Peter and his fellow disciples return to their former activities. After all, the master is no longer there; they have to keep busy. But the Master warns them: “Whoever puts his hand to the plough and looks back is not fit for the kingdom of God” (Lk 9:62). But that night they caught no fish. Jesus comes to them under the sign of the fruitfulness linked to his person and to the Eucharist, the sacrament of his presence. After the abundance of the catch, he sets the table for them: “Come and eat”. It is by having our eyes fixed on Christ who gives himself to us that all our activities can bear abundant fruit. Lord grant us, like the beloved disciple, to recognize you on our shores and in the everyday events of our lives.

Pape et Martyr
Elu pape en 649, Martin 1er condamna l’hérésie monothélite qui niait l’existence d’une volonté humaine dans le Christ. L’empereur Constant II le fit arrêter à Rome. Déclaré déchu du pontificat et rapidement oublié du clergé romain, Martin fut exilé en Crimée où il mourut de privations, le 13 avril 656. Il est le dernier des papes martyrs.

Afin que tous proclament, Seigneur, la puissance que tu as déployée pour notre salut, la Sagesse a ouvert la bouche des muets, et délié la langue des tout petits, alléluia.

1ère lecture : Act 3, 11-26
En ces jours-là, l’infirme que Pierre et Jean venaient de guérir ne les lâchait plus. Tout le peuple accourut vers eux au Portique dit de Salomon. Les gens étaient stupéfaits. Voyant cela, Pierre interpella le peuple : « Hommes d’Israël, pourquoi vous étonner ? Pourquoi fixer les yeux sur nous, comme si c’était en vertu de notre puissance personnelle ou de notre piété que nous lui avons donné de marcher ? Le Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et de Jacob, le Dieu de nos pères, a glorifié son serviteur Jésus, alors que vous, vous l’aviez livré, vous l’aviez renié en présence de Pilate qui était décidé à le relâcher. Vous avez renié le Saint et le Juste, et vous avez demandé qu’on vous accorde la grâce d’un meurtrier. Vous avez tué le Prince de la vie, lui que Dieu a ressuscité d’entre les morts, nous en sommes témoins. Tout repose sur la foi dans le nom de Jésus Christ : c’est ce nom lui-même qui vient d’affermir cet homme que vous regardez et connaissez; oui, la foi qui vient par Jésus l’a rétabli dans son intégrité physique, en votre présence à tous. D’ailleurs, frères, je sais bien que vous avez agi dans l’ignorance, vous et vos chefs. Mais Dieu a ainsi accompli ce qu’il avait d’avance annoncé par la bouche de tous les prophètes : que le Christ, son Messie souffrirait. Convertissez-vous et tournez-vous vers Dieu pour que vos péchés soient effacés. Ainsi viendront les temps de la fraîcheur de la part du Seigneur, et il enverra le Christ Jésus qui vous est destiné. Il faut en effet que le ciel l’accueille jusqu’à l’époque où tout sera rétabli, comme Dieu l’avait dit par la bouche des saints, ceux d’autrefois, ses prophètes. Moïse a déclaré : Le Seigneur votre Dieu suscitera pour vous, du milieu de vos frères, un prophète comme moi : vous l’écouterez en tout ce qu’il vous dira. Quiconque n’écoutera pas ce prophétisera retrancher du peuple. Ensuite, tous les prophètes qui ont parlé depuis Samuel et ses successeurs, aussi nombreux furent-ils, ont annoncé les jours où nous sommes. C’est vous qui êtes les fils des prophètes et de l’Alliance que Dieu a conclue avec vos pères, quand il disait à Abraham : En ta descendance seront bénies toutes les familles de la terre. C’est pour vous d’abord que Dieu a suscité son Serviteur, et il l’a envoyé vous bénir, pourvu que chacun de vous se détourne de sa méchanceté. »

En ce temps-là, les disciples qui rentraient d’Emmaüs racontaient aux onze Apôtres et à leurs compagnons ce qui s’était passé sur la route, et comment le Seigneur s’était fait reconnaître par eux à la fraction du pain. Comme ils en parlaient encore, lui-même fut présent au milieu d’eux, et leur dit : « La paix soit avec vous ! » Saisis de frayeur et de crainte, ils croyaient voir un esprit. Jésus leur dit : « Pourquoi êtes-vous bouleversés? Et pourquoi ces pensées qui surgissent dans votre cœur ? Voyez mes mains et mes pieds : c’est bien moi ! Touchez-moi, regardez : un esprit n’a pas de chair ni d’os comme vous constatez que j’en ai. » Après cette parole, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds. Dans leur joie, ils n’osaient pas encore y croire, et restaient saisis d’étonnement. Jésus leur dit : « Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger ? » Ils lui présentèrent une part de poisson grillé qu’il prit et mangea devant eux. Puis il leur déclara: « Voici les paroles que je vous ai dites quand j’étais encore avec vous : “Il faut que s’accomplisse tout ce qui a été écrit à mon sujet dans la loi de Moïse, les Prophètes et les Psaumes.” » Alors il ouvrit leur intelligence à la compréhension des Écritures. Il leur dit : « Ainsi est-il écrit que le Christ souffrirait, qu’il ressusciterait d’entre les morts le troisième jour, et que la conversion serait proclamée en son nom, pour le pardon des péchés, à toutes les nations, en commençant par Jérusalem. À vous d’en être les témoins. »

Méditation
« La paix soit avec vous ! » c’est le tout premier don du ressuscité à ses disciples réunis. « Que votre cœur ne se trouble pas » leur avait-il déjà dit avant sa mort. Sa mort les a tous troublés mais il est vivant au milieu d’eux ; il n’est pas un esprit mais sa résurrection, accomplissement de toute les Ecritures, révèle sa nature divine aux yeux de tous. Il est glorifié dans son corps et dans cette humanité qu’il a assumée pour que désormais tous les hommes deviennent participants de sa nature divine. Sa paix redonne ainsi à ses disciples et plus encore à toute personne désespérée l’assurance et le goût d’un nouveau départ, d’une nouvelle vie. Dieu réalise son projet de salut par des voies parfois insondables ; mais il nous fait toujours découvrir ses volontés et nous associe à sa mise en œuvre. Devenir donc témoins du kérygme et de la paix du ressuscité c’est accueillir toutes les Ecritures comme Bonne Nouvelle pour l’homme. « À vous d’en être les témoins. »

Meditation
“Peace be with you” is the very first gift of the Risen One to his gathered disciples. “Let not your hearts be troubled” he had already said to them before his death. His death troubled them all, but he is alive in their midst, he is not a spirit. His resurrection is a fulfilment the Scriptures and a revelation of his divine nature to all. He is glorified in his body and in this humanity that he assumed, so that from now on, all men become participants of his divine nature. His peace thus gives his disciples, and even more so to every desperate person, the assurance and the taste of a new beginning, of a new life with God. God carries out his plan of salvation in ways that are sometimes unfathomable, but he always makes us discover his will and involves us in its implementation. To become witnesses of the kerygma and the peace of the Risen One is to accept all the Scriptures as Good News for man. It is up to you to be witnesses of it.

Zeno, a native of North Africa, was appointed bishop of Verona (Northern Italy) in 362. He preached much against Arianism and fostered the growth of missionary activity in his area. He died in 371.

First reading: Acts 3:1-10
Once, when Peter and John were going up to the Temple for the prayers at the ninth hour, it happened that there was a man being carried past. He was a cripple from birth; and they used to put him down every day near the Temple entrance called the Beautiful Gate so that he could beg from the people going in. When this man saw Peter and John on their way into the Temple he begged from them. Both Peter and John looked straight at him and said, “Look at us.” He turned to them expectantly, hoping to get something from them, but Peter said, “I have neither silver nor gold, but I will give you what I have: in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, walk!” Peter then took him by the hand and helped him to stand up. They were all astonished and unable to explain what had happened to him.

Two of the disciples of Jesus were on their way to a village called Emmaus, seven miles from Jerusalem, and they were talking together about all that had happened. Now as they talked this over, Jesus himself came up and walked by their side; but something prevented them from recognising him. He said to them, “What matters are you discussing as you walk along?” They stopped short, their faces downcast. Then one of them, called Cleopas, answered him, “You must be the only person staying in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have been happening there these last few days.” “What things?” he asked. “All about Jesus of Nazareth” they answered “who proved he was a great prophet by the things he said and did in the sight of God and of the whole people; and how our chief priests and our leaders handed him over to be sentenced to death, and had him crucified. Our own hope had been that he would be the one to set Israel free. And this is not all: two whole days have gone by since it all happened; and some women from our group have astounded us: they went to the tomb in the early morning, and when they did not find the body, they came back to tell us they had seen a vision of angels who declared he was alive. Some of our friends went to the tomb and found everything exactly as the women had reported, but of him they saw nothing.” Then he said to them, “You foolish men! So slow to believe the full message of the prophets! Was it not ordained that the Christ should suffer and so enter into his glory?” Then, starting with Moses and going through all the prophets, he explained to them the passages throughout the Scriptures that were about himself. When they drew near to the village to which they were going, he made as if to go on; but they pressed him to stay with them. “It is nearly evening” they said “and the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. Now while he was with them at table, he took the bread and said the blessing; then he broke it and handed it to them. And their eyes were opened and they recognised him; but he had vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?” They set out that instant and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven assembled together with their companions, who said to them, “Yes, it is true. The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” Then they told their story of what had happened on the road and how they had recognised him at the breaking of bread.

Meditation
“And we who hoped that it was he who would deliver Israel!” A sigh of despair, an expression of loss of the essential. Cleophas’ words remind us that Israel’s long messianic expectation, which has never been a quiet river, seems to have been disappointed once again. The two friends walk sadly along a deserted road. Discouraged, disillusioned, they return home, everything is over, they have to start all over again. It had been a new world with Jesus, but he died crucified and his tomb is empty. Yet it is on this road of discouragement, where all seems lost, that the risen one comes to them, opens their minds to the understanding of the Scriptures and makes himself known at the meal. It is there that their Passover and their resurrection take place; they return to Jerusalem and testify full of confidence and enthusiasm. May the Risen One always be with us on our human journey and reveal himself to us in the Eucharist. But first, we must, like the disciples of Emmaus, listen to him and welcome him into our homes.

Evêque et Martyr
Fils d’une riche famille polonaise, Stanislas (1030-1079) distribue ses biens aux pauvres. Évêque de Cracovie en 1072, il entre en conflit avec Boleslas II, monarque injuste et débauché, dont il dénonce les fautes pour défendre le peuple opprimé. Quand il doit en venir à excommunier le roi, celui-ci le tue de sa main, alors que l’évêque célébrait la messe. Stanislas est un des patrons de la Pologne.

Par l’eau du baptême, Dieu a répondu à notre soif du Christ. Les baptisés peuvent s’appuyer sur le Christ, ils ne fléchiront pas, ils ne seront jamais déçus, alléluia.

En ce temps-là, Marie Madeleine se tenait près du tombeau, au-dehors, tout en pleurs. Et en pleurant, elle se pencha vers le tombeau. Elle aperçoit deux anges vêtus de blanc, assis l’un à la tête et l’autre aux pieds, à l’endroit où avait reposé le corps de Jésus. Ils lui demandent : « Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu ? » Elle leur répond: «On a enlevé mon Seigneur, et je ne sais pas où on l’a déposé.» Ayant dit cela, elle se retourna ; elle aperçoit Jésus qui se tenait là, mais elle ne savait pas que c’était Jésus. Jésus lui dit : « Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu? Qui cherches-tu ? » Le prenant pour le jardinier, elle lui répond: « Si c’est toi qui l’as emporté, dis-moi où tu l’as déposé, et moi, j’irai le prendre.» Jésus lui dit alors: « Marie! » S’étant retournée, elle lui dit en hébreu : « Rabbouni! », c’est-à-dire : Maître. Jésus reprend: « Ne me retiens pas, car je ne suis pas encore monté vers le Père. Va trouver mes frères pour leur dire que je monte vers mon Père et votre Père, vers mon Dieu et votre Dieu. » Marie Madeleine s’en va donc annoncer aux disciples : « J’ai vu le Seigneur ! », et elle raconta ce qu’il lui avait dit.

Reçois avec bonté, Seigneur, les offrandes de ton peuple : garde-le sous ta protection, pour qu’il ne perde aucun des biens que tu lui donnes, et qu’il découvre ceux qui demeurent toujours. Par Jésus.

Méditation
« Femme, pourquoi pleures-tu ? Qui cherches-tu ? » ; la mort de Jésus a laissé un vide douloureux et le tombeau vide désespère davantage. Marie-Madeleine pleure, cherchant son Seigneur dit-elle. La résurrection pour elle demeure encore un mystère. Elle pleure la vie perdue, elle pleure un amour. Mais elle apprend bientôt que si du sein de la femme naît la vie, du tombeau aussi, jaillit la vie par la puissance de l’Esprit. Jésus l’appelle : « Marie ». Comme le Bien-aimé du livre des Cantique sa voix résonne dans son cœur, il parle, il lui dit : Lève-toi, mon amie, ma toute belle, et viens…Vois, l’hiver s’en est allé, les pluies ont cessé, sur la terre apparaissent les fleurs… (cf. Ct 12, 8-12). Marie a tout compris : C’est lui ! « Rabbouni ! » s’écrit-elle ! Elle témoigne « J’ai vu le Seigneur ! ». Puissions-nous comme Marie-Madeleine chercher sans cesse le Visage du Seigneur ressuscité, croire ce que nous avons vu et témoigner de ce que nous avons cru.

SAINT Stanislas
He was born in Poland in 1036. He became bishop of Krakow 1072. He ruled the church as a good shepherd and gave help to the poor. He was murdered as he was celebrating Mass on 8 May 1079.

He gave them the water of wisdom to drink; it will be made strong in them and will not be moved; it will raise them up for ever, alleluia.

Meditation
“Woman, why are u crying? Who are you looking for?” The death of Jesus has left a painful void and the empty tomb makes one even more desperate. Mary Magdalene weeps, looking for her Lord. She does not yet know about the mystery of the resurrection. She weeps, out of love, for the life lost. But she soon learns that, if from the womb life is born, from the tomb too, life springs forth by the power of the Spirit. Jesus calls her: “Mary”. Like the Beloved of the Book of Songs, his voice resounds in her heart, he speaks, he says to her: Arise, my friend, my beautiful one, and come… See, the winter has gone, the rains have stopped, the flowers are appearing on the earth… (cf. Ct 12, 8-12). Mary understood everything: It’s him! “Rabbuni!” she exclaimed. She testifies: “I have seen the Lord!” May we, like Mary Magdalene, seek unceasingly the Face of the Risen Lord, believe what we have seen and bear witness to what we have believed.

Le Seigneur s’est relevé d’entre les morts ; c’est pour nous jour de fête et de joie, car il règne pour les siècles, alléluia.

Dieu qui agrandit toujours ton Église en lui donnant par le baptême de nouveaux enfants, accorde à tes fils d’être fidèles toute leur vie au sacrement qu’ils ont reçu dans la foi. Par Jésus.
1ère lecture : Act 2, 14.22b- 33
Le jour de la Pentecôte, Pierre, debout avec les onze autres Apôtres, éleva la voix et leur fit cette déclaration : « Vous, Juifs, et vous tous qui résidez à Jérusalem, sachez bien ceci, prêtez l’oreille à mes paroles. Il s’agit de Jésus le Nazaréen, homme que Dieu a accrédité auprès de vous en accomplissant par lui des miracles, des prodiges et des signes au milieu de vous, comme vous le savez vous-mêmes. Cet homme, livré selon le dessein bien arrêté et la prescience de Dieu, vous l’avez supprimé en le clouant sur le bois par la main des impies. Mais Dieu l’a ressuscité en le délivrant des douleurs de la mort, car il n’était pas possible qu’elle le retienne en son pouvoir. En effet, c’est de lui que parle David dans le psaume : Je voyais le Seigneur devant moi sans relâche : il est à ma droite, je suis inébranlable. C’est pourquoi mon cœur est en fête, et ma langue exulte de joie; ma chair elle-même reposera dans l’espérance: tu ne peux m’abandonner au séjour des morts ni laisser ton fidèle voir la corruption. Tu m’as appris des chemins de vie, tu me rempliras d’allégresse par ta présence. Frères, il est permis de vous dire avec assurance, au sujet du patriarche David, qu’il est mort, qu’il a été enseveli, et que son tombeau est encore aujourd’hui chez nous. Comme il était prophète, il savait que Dieu lui avait juré de faire asseoir sur son trône un homme issu de lui. Il a vu d’avance la résurrection du Christ, dont il a parlé ainsi: Il n’a pas été abandonné à la mort, et sa chair n’a pas vu la corruption. Ce Jésus, Dieu l’a ressuscité; nous tous, nous en sommes témoins. Élevé par la droite de Dieu, il a reçu du Père l’Esprit Saint qui était promis, et il l’a répandu sur nous, ainsi que vous le voyez et l’entendez.».

Évangile : Mathieu 28, 8-15
En ce temps-là, quand les femmes eurent entendu les paroles de l’ange, vite, elles quittèrent le tombeau, remplies à la fois de crainte et d’une grande joie, et elles coururent porter la nouvelle à ses disciples. Et voici que Jésus vint à leur rencontre et leur dit : « je vous salue.» Elles s’approchèrent, lui saisirent les pieds et se prosternèrent devant lui. Alors Jésus leur dit : « Soyez sans crainte, allez annoncer à mes frères qu’ils doivent se rendre en Galilée : c’est là qu’ils me verront.» Tandis qu’elles étaient en chemin, quelques-uns des gardes allèrent en ville annoncer aux grands prêtres tout ce qui s’était passé. Ceux-ci, après s’être réunis avec les anciens et avoir tenu conseil, donnèrent aux soldats une forte somme en disant: « Voici ce que vous direz : “Ses disciples sont venus voler le corps, la nuit pendant que nous dormions.” Et si tout cela vient aux oreilles du gouverneur, nous lui expliquerons la chose, et nous vous éviterons tout ennui. » Les soldats prirent l’argent et suivirent les instructions. Et cette explication s’est propagée chez les Juifs jusqu’à aujourd’hui.
Prière sur Les offrandes
Accueille avec bonté, Seigneur, les offrandes de ton peuple ; renouvelé par la foi et le baptême, qu’il parvienne au bonheur sans fin. Par Jésus.

Ressuscité d’entre les morts le Christ ne meurt plus ; sur lui, la mort n’a plus aucun pouvoir, alléluia.
Prière après la communion
Que la grâce du mystère pascal abonde et fructifie en nous, Dieu tout-puissant ; tu nous as mis sur le chemin du salut, aide-nous à répondre à tes bienfaits. Par Jésus.
Méditation
« Soyez sans crainte, allez annoncer à mes frères qu’ils doivent se rendre en Galilée : c’est là qu’ils me verront.». La résurrection nous met en route pour aller à la rencontre du ressuscité. Elle nous met en chemin car elle constitue non pas un terme mais une marche vers notre ascension. Entre refus de croire des autorités juives et corruption des soldats, l’œuvre du salut fraie une voie pour l’homme. La prendre conduit au ressuscité : « c’est là qu’ils me verront ». « Ressuscité d’entre les morts le Christ ne meurt plus ; sur lui, la mort n’a plus aucun pouvoir » ; c’est désormais cette foi libérée de toute peur et portée par cette joie immense qui doit animer la marche de l’Eglise, notre marche à tous.
