St. Elizabeth of Hungary
(1207 – 1231)
She was a daughter of the King of Hungary. She was given in marriage and she had three children. She frequently meditated on heavenly things and when her husband died she embraced poverty and built a hospice in which she cared for the sick herself.

I am like a growing olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the mercy of God, for ever and ever.

O God, by whose gift Saint Elizabeth of Hungary recognized and revered Christ in the poor, grant, through her intercession, that we may serve with unfailing charity the needy and those afflicted. First reading : Apocalypse 5:1-10
I, John, saw that in the right hand of the One sitting on the throne there was a scroll that had writing on back and front and was sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a powerful angel who called with a loud voice, ‘Is there anyone worthy to open the scroll and break the seals of it?’ But there was no one, in heaven or on the earth or under the earth, who was able to open the scroll and read it. I wept bitterly because there was nobody fit to open the scroll and read it, but one of the elders said to me, ‘There is no need to cry: the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed, and he will open the scroll and the seven seals of it.’ Then I saw, standing between the throne with its four animals and the circle of the elders, a Lamb that seemed to have been sacrificed; it had seven horns, and it had seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits God has sent out all over the world. The Lamb came forward to take the scroll from the right hand of the One sitting on the throne, and when he took it, the four animals prostrated themselves before him and with them the twenty-four elders; each one of them was holding a harp and had a golden bowl full of incense made of the prayers of the saints. They sang a new hymn: ‘You are worthy to take the scroll and break the seals of it, because you were sacrificed, and with your blood you bought men for God of every race, language, people and nation and made them a line of kings and priests, to serve our God and to rule the world.’

Renewed, O Lord, at the wellsprings of salvation, we humbly entreat you that through the intercession of St. Elizabeth, holding more closely day by day to Christ, we may merit to be co-heirs in his Kingdom of grace. Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Meditation
Two times in the gospels Jesus is said to have wept. The first time is at the death of Lazarus (Jn. 11:35) and the second time is as he was approaching Jerusalem to accomplish the paschal mystery, as we see in today’s gospel reading. In the story of Lazarus, Jesus wept with a sense of restorable loss, but in today’s gospel text, Jesus shed tears over Jerusalem for an impending and irreversible catastrophe that was a result of her obstinacy. Jerusalem wanted a Messiah on her own terms; one that would end Roman domination and establish a powerful Jewish state. But Jesus came with a message of universal redemption which Jerusalem rejected to her own damnation. Openness to God means accepting his will for us and not insisting on ours.

St. Margaret of Scotland
(1046 – 1093)
She was born in Hungary of Anglo-Saxon and Hungarian parents. She founded monasteries, and supported major reforms of Church life. She died in Edinburgh on 16 November 1093. She is remembered for devotion to prayer and learning, and especially for her generosity to the poor.

The first animal was like a lion, the second like a bull, the third animal had a human face, and the fourth animal was like a flying eagle. Accordingly he said, ‘A man of noble birth went to a distant country to be appointed king and afterwards return. He summoned ten of his servants and gave them ten pounds. “Do business with these” he told them “until I get back.” But his compatriots detested him and sent a delegation to follow him with this message, “We do not want this man to be our king.” Now on his return, having received his appointment as king, he sent for those servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what profit each had made. The first came in and said, “Sir, your one pound has brought in ten.” “Well done, my good servant!” he replied “Since you have proved yourself faithful in a very small thing, you shall have the government of ten cities..” Then came the second and said, “Sir, your one pound has made five.” To this one also he said, “And you shall be in charge of five cities.” Next came the other and said, “Sir, here is your pound. Meditation
Diamond, emerald, gold; with these most precious stones known to man John attempts a description of the heavenly glory in the presence of God. With Christ we see that this glory of God is not altogether other-worldy; we can already partake here on earth of the precious presence of God. By our baptism into Christ, we have access to this glorious presence of God. St. Peter reminds us that our ransom was even more precious than silver and gold, for it was the blood of Christ itself that bought us and on account of this we are a royal people set aside to live for God’s glory (cf. 1 Peter 1:9).

StE Elisabeth de Hongrie
Mariée à quatorze au duc Louis IV de Thuringe, et mère de trois enfants, Elisabeth (1207-1231) est veuve à vingt ans. Elle subit alors d’incroyables humiliations qu’elle supporte avec douceur. Devenue tertiaire franciscaine, elle se donne avec amour au service des pauvres et meurt à vingt-quatre ans. Figure de sainte très populaire, elle fut canonisée quatre ans après sa mort.

1ère lecture : Ap 5, 1-10
Moi, Jean, j’ai vu, dans la main droite de celui qui siège sur le Trône, un livre en forme de rouleau, écrit au-dedans et à l’extérieur, scellé de sept sceaux. Puis j’ai vu un ange plein de force, qui proclamait d’une voix puissante : « Qui donc est digne d’ouvrir le Livre et d’en briser les sceaux ? » Mais personne, au ciel, sur terre ou sous la terre, ne pouvait ouvrir le Livre et regarder. Je pleurais beaucoup, parce que personne n’avait été trouvé digne d’ouvrir le Livre et de regarder. Mais l’un des Anciens me dit : « Ne pleure pas. Voilà qu’il a remporté la victoire, le lion de la tribu de Juda, le rejeton de David: il ouvrira le Livre aux sept sceaux.» Et j’ai vu, entre le Trône, les quatre Vivants et les Anciens, un Agneau debout, comme égorgé; ses cornes étaient au nombre de sept, ainsi que ses yeux, qui sont les sept esprits de Dieu envoyés sur toute la terre. Il s’avança et prit le Livre dans la main droite de celui qui siégeait sur le Trône. Quand l’Agneau eut pris le Livre, les quatre Vivants et les vingt-quatre Anciens se jetèrent à ses pieds. Ils tenaient chacun une cithare et des coupes d’or pleines de parfums qui sont les prières des saints. Ils chantaient ce cantique nouveau : « Tu es digne, de prendre le Livre et d’en ouvrir les sceaux, car tu fus immolé, rachetant pour Dieu, par ton sang, des gens de toute tribu, langue, peuple et nation. Pour notre Dieu, tu en as fait un royaume et des prêtres : ils régneront sur la terre. »

Méditation
Le livre de l’Apocalypse nous révèle aujourd’hui que le monde et le temps sont dans la main de Dieu ; Lui seul connait le secret de l’Histoire. Le peuple bouleversé par la persécution doit s’en remettre à lui qui le mènera vers le salut. Dans l’Evangile qui conduira l’humanité au salut, Jésus pleure sur Jérusalem frappée de cécité. Dieu souffre et pleure sur nos malheurs et nous délivre.

St. Albert the Great
(1206 – 1280)
He was born in Germany and joined the Dominican Order. He taught in a number of places including the University of Paris, where St Thomas Aquinas studied under him. He was one of the greatest philosophers of the Middle Ages. He made great efforts to secure peace between people and between cities. He died at Cologne in 1280.

Gospel : Luke 19:1-10
Jesus entered Jericho and was going through the town when a man whose name was Zacchaeus made his appearance: he was one of the senior tax collectors and a wealthy man. He was anxious to see what kind of man Jesus was, but he was too short and could not see him for the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to catch a glimpse of Jesus who was to pass that way. When Jesus reached the spot he looked up and spoke to him: ‘Zacchaeus, come down. Hurry, because I must stay at your house today.’ And he hurried down and welcomed him joyfully. They all complained when they saw what was happening. ‘He has gone to stay at a sinner’s house’ they said. But Zacchaeus stood his ground and said to the Lord, ‘Look, sir, I am going to give half my property to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody I will pay him back four times the amount.’ And Jesus said to him, ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek out and save what was lost.’

Meditation
Salvation is always received in freedom. Just as radio frequencies freely vibrating in the atmosphere translate into sensible sounds only when we tune in to them, so too does the salvation won for us by christ become actualized in us only when we open the doors of our hearts to god. The first reading tells us that jesus stands at the doors of our hearts knocking; he does not force himself in, he waits to be received. Zacchaeus opened the door of his heart before he opened the door of his house; his heart sought the lord, he climbed the tree and made jesus see him. He surmounted the crowd so he could “hear and open.” Like zacchaeus we too must climb above the crowd of earthly distractions so that salvation can come to our house.

He was born in what is now Herefordshire, the illegitimate son of the daughter of a local king. He founded monasteries in south-east Wales, was the teacher of Saints Teilo and Samson among others, and exercised the functions of a bishop.

Meditation
This is the beginning of John’s letters to the seven churches of Asia, among the better-known passages of the book of the Apocalypse. John opens with a letter to the church of Ephesus and this sets the pattern for the letters to the other churches: praise for good conduct and reproach for bad behaviour. The Ephesians are praised for being hardworking, discerning, patient, and long suffering, but they are reproached for slackening in love. St. Paul tells us that if we have everything but have no love, we have nothing. May God help us not to grow tired in love!

St. Sidoine
Sidoine avait été pris par les corsaires en Irlande et vendu comme esclave aux moines de l’abbaye normande de Jumièges, qui allaient racheter les captifs dans les ports de le l’Angleterre. Ils lui rendirent ainsi sa liberté. Moine lui-même à Jumièges durant quelques années, il fonda à son tour l’abbaye de Saint-Saëns, qui, bien que détruite par les invasions normandes, a laissé son nom à la localité.

Accorde-nous, Seigneur, de trouver notre joie dans notre fidélité: Car c’est un bonheur durable et profond de servir constamment le créateur de tout bien. Par Jésus Christ.
1ère lecture : Ap 1, 1-4 ; 2, 1-5a
Révélation de Jésus Christ, que Dieu lui a confiée pour montrer à ses serviteurs ce qui doit bientôt advenir ; cette révélation, il l’a fait connaître à son serviteur Jean par l’envoi de son ange. Jean atteste comme parole de Dieu et témoignage de Jésus Christ tout ce qu’il a vu. Heureux celui qui lit, heureux ceux qui écoutent les paroles de la prophétie et gardent ce qui est écrit en elle, car le temps est proche. Jean, aux sept Églises qui sont en Asie mineure : à vous, la grâce et la paix, de la part de Celui qui est, qui était et qui vient, de la part des sept esprits qui sont devant son trône. J’ai entendu le Seigneur qui me disait : À l’ange de l’Église qui est à Éphèse, écris : Ainsi parle celui qui tient les sept étoiles dans sa main droite, qui marche au milieu des sept chandeliers d’or : Je connais tes actions, ta peine, ta persévérance, je sais que tu ne peux supporter les malfaisants ; tu as mis à l’épreuve ceux qui se disent apôtres et ne le sont pas ; tu as découvert qu’ils étaient menteurs. Tu ne manques pas de persévérance, et tu as tant supporté pour mon nom, sans ménager ta peine. Mais j’ai contre toi que ton premier amour, tu l’as abandonné. Eh bien, rappelle-toi d’où tu es tombé, convertis-toi, reviens à tes premières actions.

R/ Au vainqueur, je donnerai de goûter à l’arbre de la vie
- Heureux est l’homme qui n’entre pas au conseil des méchants, qui ne suit pas le chemin des pécheurs, ne siège pas avec ceux qui ricanent, mais se plaît dans la loi du Seigneur et murmure sa loi jour et nuit !
- Il est comme un arbre planté près d’un ruisseau, qui donne du fruit en son temps, et jamais son feuillage ne meurt ; tout ce qu’il entreprend réussira. Tel n’est pas le sort des méchants.
- Mais ils sont comme la paille balayée par le vent. Le Seigneur connaît le chemin des justes, mais le chemin des méchants se perdra.
Acclamation
Alléluia. Alléluia Moi, je suis la lumière du monde, dit le Seigneur. Celui qui me suit aura la lumière de la vie. Alléluia. (Jn 8, 12)
Évangile : Lc 18, 35-43
Alors que Jésus approchait de Jéricho, un aveugle mendiait, assis au bord de la route. Entendant la foule passer devant lui, il s’informa de ce qu’il y avait. On lui apprit que c’était Jésus le Nazaréen qui passait. Il s’écria : « Jésus, fils de David, prends pitié de moi ! » Ceux qui marchaient en tête le rabrouaient pour le faire taire. Mais lui criait de plus belle : « Fils de David, prends pitié de moi ! » Jésus s’arrêta et il ordonna qu’on le lui amène. Quand il se fut approché, Jésus lui demanda : « Que veux-tu que je fasse pour toi ? » Il répondit : « Seigneur, que je retrouve la vue. » Et Jésus lui dit : « Retrouve la vue ! Ta foi t’a sauvé. » À l’instant même, il retrouva la vue, et il suivait Jésus en rendant gloire à Dieu. Et tout le peuple, voyant cela, adressa une louange à Dieu.

Méditation
Nous commençons la lecture continue du livre de l’Apocalypse. Deux symboles sont à comprendre : « étoile » et « candélabre ». L’étoile symbolise l’ange et le candélabre symbolise l’église particulière. Le message de ce jour s’adresse à l’église d’Ephèse, l’invitant à retrouver sa ferveur des temps passés. Justement l’aveugle de Jéricho, animé d’une grande ferveur a été guéri par Jésus. Que Dieu nous aide à maintenir notre ferveur.

This was not because we had no right to be, but in order to make ourselves an example for you to follow. We gave you a rule when we were with you: do not let anyone have any food if he refuses to do any work. Now we hear that there are some of you who are living in idleness, doing no work themselves but interfering with everyone else’s. In the Lord Jesus Christ, we order and call on people of this kind to go on quietly working and earning the food that they eat.

When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework and votive offerings, Jesus said, ‘All these things you are staring at now – the time will come when not a single stone will be left on another: everything will be destroyed.’ And they put to him this question: ‘Master,’ they said ‘when will this happen, then, and what sign will there be that this is about to take place?’ ‘Take care not to be deceived,’ he said ‘because many will come using my name and saying, “I am he” and, “The time is near at hand.” Refuse to join them. And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened, for this is something that must happen but the end is not so soon.’ Then he said to them, ‘Nation will fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. Meditation
Both the first reading from the prophet Malachi and the gospel text according to Luke speak of the coming days of doom. The prophet uses the imagery of a flaming furnace while Luke presents the picture of the destruction of the temple. These images are not meant to frighten us but to make us conscious of how we live our lives. The virtuous will come out leaping like fattened calves, says prophet Malachi, while Jesus assures us that not a hair on our head will perish because God cares for and loves us. Like St. Paul, we must be committed to the work which God has entrusted to us.

1ère lecture : Ml 3,19-20a
Voici que vient le jour du Seigneur, brûlant comme la fournaise. Tous les arrogants, tous ceux qui commettent l’impiété, seront de la paille. Le jour qui vient les consumera, – dit le Seigneur de l’univers -, il ne leur laissera ni racine ni branche. Mais pour vous qui craignez mon nom, le Soleil de justice se lèvera : il apportera la guérison dans son rayonnement.
Psaume : Ps 97 (98), 5-6, 7-8, 9
R/ Voici le peuple de ceux qui cherchent ta face, Seigneur.
1. Jouez pour le Seigneur sur la cithare, sur la cithare et tous les instruments; au son de la trompette et du cor, acclamez votre roi, le Seigneur !
2. Que résonnent la mer et sa richesse, le monde et tous ses habitants ; que les fleuves battent des mains, que les montagnes chantent leur joie.

2ème lecture : 2 Th 3, 7-12
Frères, vous savez bien, vous, ce qu’il faut faire pour nous imiter. Nous n’avons pas vécu parmi vous de façon désordonnée ; et le pain que nous avons mangé, nous ne l’avons pas reçu gratuitement. Au contraire, dans la peine et la fatigue, nuit et jour, nous avons travaillé pour n’être à la charge d’aucun d’entre vous. Bien sûr, nous avons le droit d’être à charge, mais nous avons voulu être pour vous un modèle à imiter. Et quand nous étions chez vous, nous vous donnions cet ordre : si quelqu’un ne veut pas travailler, qu’il ne mange pas non plus. Or, nous apprenons que certains d’entre vous mènent une vie déréglée, affairés sans rien faire. À ceux-là, nous adressons dans le Seigneur Jésus Christ cet ordre et cet appel : qu’ils travaillent dans le calme pour manger le pain qu’ils auront gagné.

En ce temps-là, comme certains disciples de Jésus parlaient du Temple, des belles pierres et des ex-voto qui le décoraient, Jésus leur déclara : « Ce que vous contemplez, des jours viendront où il n’en restera pas pierre sur pierre : tout sera détruit. » Ils lui demandèrent : « Maître, quand cela arrivera-t-il ? Et quel sera le signe que cela est sur le point d’arriver?» Jésus répondit : « Prenez garde de ne pas vous laisser égarer, car beaucoup viendront sous mon nom, et diront : ‘C’est moi’, ou encore : ‘Le moment est tout proche.’ Ne marchez pas derrière eux ! Quand vous entendrez parler de guerres et de désordres, ne soyez pas terrifiés : il faut que cela arrive d’abord, mais ce ne sera pas aussitôt la fin. » Alors Jésus ajouta : « On se dressera nation contre nation, royaume contre royaume. Il y aura de grands tremblements de terre et, en divers lieux, des famines et des épidémies ; des phénomènes effrayants surviendront, et de grands signes venus du ciel. Mais avant tout cela, on portera la main sur vous et l’on vous persécutera ; on vous livrera aux synagogues et aux prisons, on vous fera comparaître devant des rois et des gouverneurs, à cause de mon nom. Cela vous amènera à rendre témoignage. Mettez-vous donc dans l’esprit que vous n’avez pas à vous préoccuper de votre défense. C’est moi qui vous donnerai un langage et une sagesse à laquelle tous vos adversaires ne pourront ni résister ni s’opposer. Vous serez livrés même par vos parents, vos frères, votre famille et vos amis, et ils feront mettre à mort certains d’entre vous. Vous serez détestés de tous, à cause de mon nom. Mais pas un cheveu de votre tête ne sera perdu. C’est par votre persévérance que vous garderez votre vie.»

Méditation
Dans l’évangile, avec l’annonce de la destruction du Temple, le Christ explique les étapes qui marqueront sa venue et la fin des temps. Et même quand nous verrons ces manifestations, « cela ne sera pas tout de suite la fin ». Alors, comme saint Paul, l’attitude que nous devons adopter comme disciples du Christ est de persévérer jour après jour dans la foi et la charité, et non de nous comporter comme les disciples illuminés de Thessalonique qui cessaient de travailler, prétextant que le Retour du Christ était proche.

St. Josaphat
De famille orthodoxe, Jean Kuncewycz (vers 1580-1623) devient en 1604 moine basilien à Vilna, dans l’Eglise ruthène uniate, c’est-à-dire réunie à Rome, et prend le nom de Josaphat. Il fonde des monastères qui sont des foyers d’union entre grecs et latins. Son rayonnement est extraordinaire, et il est bientôt nommé archevêque catholique de Polotsk.
Antienne d’ouverture
Saint Josaphat a combattu jusqu’à la mort pour être fidèle à son Dieu ; il n’a pas craint les menaces des impies : il était fondé sur le roc.
Prière d’ouverture
Réveille en ton Église, Seigneur, l’esprit d’amour dont fut rempli l’évêque saint Josaphat qui donna sa vie pour son peuple : Permets qu’avec l’appui de sa prière, et fortifiés par le même esprit, nous n’hésitions pas à livrer notre vie pour nos frères. Par Jésus Christ.
1ère lecture : 3 Jn 5-8
Bien-aimé, tu agis fidèlement dans ce que tu fais pour les frères, et particulièrement pour des étrangers. En présence de l’Église, ils ont rendu témoignage à ta charité ; tu feras bien de faciliter leur voyage d’une manière digne de Dieu. Car c’est pour son nom qu’ils se sont mis en route sans rien recevoir des païens. Nous devons donc apporter notre soutien à de tels hommes pour être des collaborateurs de la vérité.

R/ Heureux qui craint le Seigneur.
- Heureux qui craint le Seigneur, qui aime entièrement sa volonté ! Sa lignée sera puissante sur la terre ; la race des justes est bénie.
- Les richesses affluent dans sa maison : à jamais se maintiendra sa justice. Lumière des cœurs droits, il s’est levé dans les ténèbres, homme de justice, de tendresse et de pitié.
- L’homme de bien a pitié, il partage ; il mène ses affaires avec droiture. Cet homme jamais ne tombera ; toujours on fera mémoire du juste.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples une parabole sur la nécessité pour eux de toujours prier sans se décourager : « Il y avait dans une ville un juge qui ne craignait pas Dieu et ne respectait pas les hommes. Dans cette même ville, il y avait une veuve qui venait lui demander : “Rends-moi justice contre mon adversaire.” Longtemps il refusa ; puis il se dit : “Même si je ne crains pas Dieu et ne respecte personne, comme cette veuve commence à m’ennuyer, je vais lui rendre justice pour qu’elle ne vienne plus sans cesse m’assommer.” » Le Seigneur ajouta : Écoutez bien ce que dit ce juge dépourvu de justice ! Et Dieu ne ferait pas justice à ses élus, qui crient vers lui jour et nuit ? Les fait-il attendre ? Je vous le déclare : bien vite, il leur fera justice. Cependant, le Fils de l’homme, quand il viendra, trouvera-t-il la foi sur la terre ? »

Méditation
Nous avons parfois du mal à dire ce qu’est la prière. Nous la faisons comme cela nous a été enseigné, ou comme nous l’avons vue et entendue. Dans l’évangile que nous venons d’écouter, Jésus nous fait comprendre que la prière est une nécessité. Bien plus qu’une juxtaposition des mots, la prière est une relation filiale. Alors, il nous faut prier avec confiance et persévérance pour voir notre prière être exaucée.

St. Martin of Tours
(c.316 – 397)
He was born in the Roman province of Pannonia. He spent some time as a hermit on an island off the Ligurian coast and founded a monastery at Ligugé in western France. The famous story about St Martin is that while a soldier in Amiens he gave half of his military cloak to a beggar and later had a dream in which the beggar revealed himself as Christ. He died in 397.

I shall raise up for myself a faithful priest who will act in accord with my heart and my mind, says the Lord.
Collect
O God, who are glorified in the Bishop Saint Martin both by his life and death, make new, we pray, the wonders of your grace in our hearts, that neither death nor life may separate us from your love. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
First reading : 2 John 1:4-9
It has given me great joy to find that your children have been living the life of truth as we were commanded by the Father. I am writing now, dear lady, not to give you any new commandment, but the one which we were given at the beginning, and to plead: let us love one another. To love is to live according to his commandments: this is the commandment which you have heard since the beginning, to live a life of love. There are many deceivers about in the world, refusing to admit that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. They are the Deceiver; they are the Antichrist. Watch yourselves, or all our work will be lost and not get the reward it deserves. If anybody does not keep within the teaching of Christ but goes beyond it, he cannot have God with him: only those who keep to what he taught can have the Father and the Son with them.

Gospel : Luke 17:26-37
Jesus said to the disciples: ‘As it was in Noah’s day, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating and drinking, marrying wives and husbands, right up to the day Noah went into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. It will be the same as it was in Lot’s day: people were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but the day Lot left Sodom, God rained fire and brimstone from heaven and it destroyed them all. It will be the same when the day comes for the Son of Man to be revealed. ‘When that day comes, anyone on the housetop, with his possessions in the house, must not come down to collect them, nor must anyone in the fields turn back either. Remember Lot’s wife. Anyone who tries to preserve his life will lose it; and anyone who loses it will keep it safe. I tell you, on that night two will be in one bed: one will be taken, the other left; two women will be grinding corn together: one will be taken, the other left.’ The disciples interrupted. ‘Where, Lord?’ they asked. He said, ‘Where the body is, there too will the vultures gather.’

Grant to us who have been restored by this Sacrament of unity, O Lord, perfect harmony with your will in all things, that, just as Saint Martin submitted himself entirely to you, so we, too, may glory in being truly yours. Through Christ our Lord.
Meditation
A disciple once went to his teacher and asked him three steps towards spiritual growth. The master replied “awareness, awareness, awareness.” To be aware is to be conscious of what one is doing at every point in one’s life. The people living in the days of Noah and Lot lacked awareness. They were so engrossed in a life of debauchery that they did not know when Noah entered the ark or when Lot left the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. The day of the Son of Man will be so sudden that one may not have the time to put things right with God. It is the wisdom that comes from God that enables us to know what is expedient in our lives.
